What is The Light Work?

The Light Work is, first and foremost, a commitment to a spiritual path whose purpose is to assist the aspirant in the cleansing, releasing and transmutation of consciousness-limiting patterns held at the cellular level. In actual practice, The Light Work is a series of weekly classes in which the student is taught a basic meditation procedure for consciously activating centers of light within the soul in order to accelerate its evolutionary process.

What are consciousness-limiting patterns and how does activating centers of light within the soul alter them?

Carried forward within the soul body for many lifetimes, these thought patterns form the basis for our present life experience. Our present life predicament is a perfect reflection of the thought content of the soul material from which we were created and our pains, addictions and diseases are the natural outcomes of a system of beliefs that hold us in separation and alienation from our divinity, our true self.

Energy follows thought and thought directs energy. By accepting total responsibility for who and what we are, we may then, by combining our conscious will and commitment with the direction of our Higher Self, transmute those aspects of self that hold us in limitation and bondage. Just as we were physically formed from parent material, so we were energetically formed from soul material containing our entire physical, psychic and spiritual history. The Light Work is a vehicle through which we can powerfully and permanently change the source of our creation and thereby create an opportunity to bring all aspects of self into balance and harmony with our inner divinity.

What are meant by Self Realization and Enlightenment and can these states be achieved through the Light Work?

Self Realization is the conscious experience of self as divine, and enlightenment is an energetic state in which one experiences union with the Absolute, the ultimate human attainment.

The Light Work is a vehicle for providing a clearing through which these states of consciousness can be attained, but in the words of Ramana Maharishi It is our discontent that motivates us to seek our true nature, the bliss at the very core of our existence. The aim of spiritual practice, then, is not to become self-realized, but to dissolve ignorance.

The Light Work meditations dissolve ignorance and darkness that hold one apart from his/her natural state of peace and joy.

Is The Light Work based on scientific principles?

There is growing scientific acknowledgment that all energy in the universe is comprised of light frequencies. Modern physicists have become increasingly aware that sub-atomic particles, the smallest constituents of physical matter, are not within themselves solid. Furthermore, these wave-particles are powerfully influenced by human thought. It is also well-established that humans are physically, mentally and emotionally reactive to different colours and intensities of light. The Light Work combines conscious intent, spiritual guidance and the science of light into a vehicle for cleansing, releasing and transmuting low frequency thought patterns held at the soul and cellular levels, thus creating a space for uplifting human consciousness to its highest potential.

The effectiveness of The Light Work is predicated on the deepest desire of the human consciousness to know and experience itself as God.

How long does it take to complete The Light Work?

The Light Work is presented in levels, each of 11-week duration. There are 15 levels in total, each building upon the work done previously. At the outset, the focus is on clearing and elevating the frequencies of the physical, perceptual, emotional and mental bodies. This allows finer, more powerful frequencies of light to be introduced in later levels. Planetary service is also an important component of the work. Each level takes the student deeper into him/herself, releasing and transmuting negative patterning, thereby enabling a more joyous and contributory life.

The student commits for one 11-week level at a time, at the end of which he/she decides whether it is appropriate to go on to the next level. Completion of all 15 levels, allowing for periodic breaks and interruptions, takes 4 to 5 years.

What will I have accomplished at the completion of all fifteen classes and what comes then?

By the time you have completed all the classes of The Light Work, you will have come to know yourself at the deepest level of your being. You will have released and transmuted many blockages and negative influences; you will be living a positive and purposeful life; you will know inner peace, joy and satisfaction from having accomplished a more worthwhile endeavour.

The Light Work is about cleansing, releasing and transmutation of obstacles that keep one in separation and bondage. Beyond The Light Work is the continuing journey toward even greater self-knowledge and awareness. Each of us and each cell in our body is a microcosm of the entire universe. As we come to know and understand ourselves as spirit manifested in matter, we likewise come to know and understand this universe and its creator.
